Deloitte knew that Outside In would create inspiring green spaces for their new workplace to help their people thrive.

The Deloitte workplace was conceived as a dynamic, welcoming environment that supports staff wellbeing while reflecting the company’s culture and aspirations.

From the outset, both client and architect recognised the value of integrating greenery at the concept design phase. Rather than treating planting as an add-on, it is embedded into the spatial strategy — helping to humanise the workplace, encourage occupancy and create a more engaging day-to-day experience. The brief was not to create a jungle, but to introduce simple, impactful greenery in key moments throughout the office.

Planting plays a central role in shaping how staff move through and use the space.

Level 17 acts as the social heart of the workplace, with a shared kitchen and hub that incorporates the highest concentration of greenery. This area has become one of the most successful and well-used spaces, with staff feedback highlighting its popularity as a place to gather, connect and reset.

Integrated edible gardens within the kitchen are replenished fortnightly, reinforcing a sense of care and interaction while adding a functional layer to the planting strategy. Elsewhere, greenery is carefully positioned to soften circulation routes, create visual interest and improve the overall workplace experience.

Plant selection and placement were guided by a balance of simplicity, durability and visual impact.

Custom-coloured planters were developed to align with the broader interior palette, ensuring planting feels cohesive rather than decorative. A forest-form planter beneath the stairwell provides both a sculptural focal point and a practical solution — subtly preventing movement into low head-height areas.

The Level 17 ‘Greenhouse’ offers a more refined, executive environment, designed as a space for collaboration and problem-solving. Here, planting supports a calm, focused atmosphere while maintaining a strong connection to the overall design language.

Across the workplace, greenery enhances spatial clarity, supports wellbeing and contributes to a noticeable shift in behaviour, with a greater percentage of staff choosing to return to the office.
